1.6 Strategies to support full participation of students with disability
AITSL Standard 1.6 Example 1
I design and implement teaching activities that support the participation and learning of students with disabilities and address relevant policy and legislative requirements. I organised a time for the Educational Support Office at Caralee to come in and observe a student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Student A. We then meet and discussed changes that need to be made including visual timetable, learning goals, First and Then chart, sensory breaks, rewards and social stories. Please see notes in Figure 1 outlining the minutes from my meeting with the Educational Support Officer which I implemented.

Figure 4 is Student A's Individual Education Plan for Term 2 2021. It includes Student A's behaviour, social, expressive language and fine motor objectives and outlines the strategies and support needs for Student A.

Figure 5 is Student A's visual daily timetable which is changed daily. Student A's EA outlines the daily activities on the daily timetable in the morning and refers to it with Student A throughout the day. Figure 6 is Student A's bubble cushion which is used for mat sessions to create a boundary of where to sit and assists with movement while sitting on the mat. Figures 7 and 8 are items used for Student A's brain break activities.
