3.4 Select and use resources
AITSL Standard 3.4 Example 1
Below is an example of Information Communication Technology (ICT) resources that I have selected and used that I customised for student access. I used the Writing Wizard app, see Figure 1, to customise activities for students when learning about the letters 'satpin'. In the 'My Words' section of the app, the students chose the 'satpin' activity and practiced forming the letters 'satpin'. I designed the activity so that the students practiced the letter three times before moving onto the next letter, E.g. s s s, a a a, t t t, etc. The students were given the opportunity to use this activity during free play on the writing table and during a guided session with parent helpers in which the students were introduced to the letter, told what sound it was then invited to practice writing the letter as they said the letter sound out loud. When the students had learnt the letter sounds 'satpin' I introduce them to the letter sounds 'chemrd'. I then used the 'My Words' section of the app, the students chose the 'chemrd' activity and practiced forming the letters 'chemrd'. Parent helpers repeated the guided session outlined above. The students thoroughly enjoyed this resource and it was very helpful in teaching the students how to form their letters and practice their letter sounds.

AITSL Standard 3.4 Example 2
Below is an example of ICT resources that I have selected and used that I customised for student access. I used the Writing Wizard app, see Figure 4, to customise activities for my high ability 'Stars Group' for phonics. As part of a reading program I created a 'Stars' activity in the 'My Words' section of the app. The students in the 'Stars Group' chose the 'Stars' activity during morning drop off where their parents participated with them to read the word then write it using the Writing Wizard app, see Figure 5. The students and parents enjoyed learning to read and write using this customised resource.

AITSL Standard 3.4 Example 3
Below is an examples reading resources that I created and customised for student access. I created books focusing on the 'satpin' and 'chemrd' letters the student knew as part of their phonics program. Each book began with words created out of only the 'satpin' and 'chemrd' letters, then a few additional words at the end of the book beginning with a different sound, please see examples of the books in Figure 6. Figure 7 is an example of the 'an' book using 'satpin' and 'chemrd' letters. Figure 8 is an example of the 'an' book with a different sound other than the 'satpin' and 'chemrd' letters.
